Wintry Mix: Freezing Rain, Sleet, And Snow Tonight!

A winter storm is anticipated to start this evening and will spread across the southeastern third of Texas through Tuesday morning. Initially, we can expect sleet and freezing rain as the main types of winter precipitation; however, there’s a chance for a shift to wet snow in Southeast Texas, the Golden Triangle, and Far East Texas by Tuesday morning.

No matter the specifics of accumulation, we should be prepared for hazardous road conditions from tonight until Wednesday morning in areas like the Hill Country, South-Central Texas, South Texas, the Rio Grande Plains, Coastal Bend, Coastal Plains, Brazos Valley, Southeast Texas, and the Golden Triangle—this also includes a large part of the Texas Gulf Coast. While road conditions might see some improvement by Tuesday afternoon, temperatures are forecasted to drop into the 10s and 20s tomorrow night, which could lead to re-freezing of any melted snow or slush.
