FORECAST

WARM WEEKEND AHEAD

Good morning and happy weekend!

Another round of patchy fog and drizzle is developing across parts of the area early Saturday, so be careful on the roadways for morning plans. Like the past few days, expect mostly cloudy skies this afternoon with high temperatures in the unseasonably warm low-70s.

Saturday’s forecast in San Antonio.

Sunday morning features another round of patchy fog, but drier air pushes in around midday, leading to plenty of afternoon sunshine, high temperatures in the mid-70s, and a healthy north wind with gusts up to 30-35 mph.

A cold front arrives around dinnertime Sunday, opening the door for colder air to spill into South Central Texas for the upcoming week.

MUCH COLDER NEXT WEEK

Temperatures tumble into the mid-30s by Monday morning in San Antonio. Factor in a leftover breeze, and wind chills in the 20s are expected for a few hours, meaning you’ll definitely want to bundle up the kiddos headed out to the school bus stop.

Highs manage to climb to about 50 degrees Monday afternoon thanks to total sunshine, but a few brief, light morning freezes follow starting early Tuesday, so be sure to bring your potted plants inside and give your pets a warm place to sleep.

It’s important to note here that while afternoons will still be cold (30s & 40s Tuesday through Friday), San Antonio will manage to climb above freezing each day, so an extended period of sub-freezing temperatures is NOT expected.

WHAT ABOUT PRECIPITATION?

As of now, odds favor a cold rain in San Antonio starting Thursday morning and lasting into Friday. However, a wintry mix is possible in the Hill Country Thursday morning, but it’s still too early to confidently pin down those specifics.

It’s going to come down to exactly how cold it gets when the moisture arrives, and every single degree counts. Unfortunately, those details are still uncertain this far out, but we’ll keep you updated on the potential as we get closer.
