Very hot weather will continue across Texas for the next few days, but some changes are expected as a weak ‘not-as-hot’ front moves into northern parts of the state. This afternoon’s high temperatures will easily top the century mark across most of Texas. The hottest locations, in the Big Bend and parts of the Panhandle, Northwest Texas, and Big Country, will approach 110 degrees.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible in the Panhandle tomorrow afternoon. A weak boundary will push south into the Panhandle on Friday, resulting in scattered storm chances on Friday and Saturday. Half to one inch of rain may fall in parts of the Panhandle, with lower chances in West Texas. The remainder of Texas will have little to no rain through the weekend. Due to possible tropical mischief, some uptick in rain chances could materialize next week in South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley.
A brief period of ‘not as hot’?
High temperatures on Friday and Saturday will average five to ten degrees cooler across the northern half of Texas compared to today and Thursday. Some folks in the Panhandle will only top out in the 80s! This is a sure-fire cool-off compared to the nearly 110 degrees expected in Borger today. The rest of Texas will continue to top out in the 90s and 100s, though a few degrees cooler. Any ‘not as hot’ weather will cease next week with a continued streak of triple-digit afternoons expected across Texas.
