Texas: Winter Storm (Snow) Possible Wednesday Night and Thursday

While we don’t often share winter weather forecasts far ahead of time, we’re starting to feel more optimistic about a potential winter storm that could kick off Wednesday evening in the west and carry through Thursday, wrapping up by Friday morning in the east. We may see some notable snow accumulations and a bit of light ice across the northwestern two-thirds of Texas.

Winter weather is possible across the northwestern two-thirds of Texas late Wednesday through Friday morning. Snow and a winter mix may result in accumulations and travel disruptions.

There are still several questions about where the freezing line will be, how much precipitation we might get, and where that ‘winter mix’ zone will develop. But no matter what falls, we’re looking at a warm-up as we head into Friday and Saturday—so any snow that does settle won’t stick around for long! We wanted to give you a heads-up about these winter mischief days well ahead of time because a significant majority of weather model data (over 70%) indicates a winter storm is on the way, increasing our confidence that we’ll experience some disruptive winter weather later this week. We’ll be sure to keep you posted, and you can count on there being some adjustments to the forecast as we move closer to the dates!
