A modest cool front has brought an equally modest temperature drop to Texas for the final days of the work week. Dry weather is expected to continue through Saturday night, with a slow climb back up the temperature roller coaster ahead of our next upper-level storm system, due on Sunday and Monday.
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, it will become more common across the western third of Texas late Saturday into Sunday morning, spreading to the west half of Texas Sunday into Sunday evening. From Sunday evening through Monday afternoon, we may see showers and storms move from west to east across the eastern half of Texas – not too dissimilar to the system we experienced last Thursday and Friday. A couple of inches of rain is possible across the northern half of Texas. The severe thunderstorm threat, if any, remains unclear – though it isn’t looking like a significant severe weather threat at this juncture.

Strong Cold Front Arrives Early Next Week
A strong cold front will blast into Texas behind the departing storm system on Monday and Tuesday. Strong northwest winds will usher in appropriately-themed weather for mid-November. It will likely be the coolest weather we’ve experienced this fall – which isn’t saying much, considering October was hotter than a chili pepper. Still, we will probably see frost and freeze conditions in portions of Texas by Tuesday and Wednesday mornings next week. No big winter storms or crazy cold weather is on the horizon, though.
