Texas Weather Roundup: It’s just gross outside…

Seasonably hot and muggy weather will stick around Texas to end the work-week. Hit-and-miss showers are expected this afternoon across the Panhandle, West Texas, Borderland, Rio Grande Plains, and South Texas. Unlike the last two days, we do not anticipate much of a severe thunderstorm threat today. Still, any storms will be capable of producing lightning and gusty winds.

On Friday, the Texas Panhandle and West Texas will experience a better chance of showers and storms. Heavy rain is possible locally, with most folks receiving one-tenth to one-half inch of rain. A few storms may produce small hail and gusty winds. With the arrival of cooler weather on Saturday evening, there may be a comparatively higher chance of a few severe storms in the western Texas Panhandle and West Texas.

Temperatures will cool off across the northwestern two-thirds of Texas as we get into Sunday and early next week. Outside of the regions mentioned above, widespread rain chances don’t look like we will see them.

We will need to monitor a tropical disturbance in the northwestern Caribbean next week as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico. That system has tropical mischief written all over it, but beyond that, it remains way too soon to determine if it’ll end up being an issue for ‘our’ part of the Gulf of Mexico or stay off to the eastern side of the Gulf.
