Texas Weather Roundup: Isolated Storms Return to the West & South

With seasonably warm and muggy weather, much of Texas will remain dry over the next five days. Isolated to scattered storms will occur daily during the afternoon and early evening hours across the Texas Panhandle, West Texas, and South Texas.

The storms across South Texas will be diurnally driven and most likely during the peak heating of the afternoon. Storms across the Panhandle and West Texas will likely develop in New Mexico during the afternoon and move east into Texas around dinner time. Weather model data supports the possibility of thunderstorm chances during the afternoon and evening hours through the remainder of the work week.

Some storms may be strong to severe with damaging outflow/straight-line winds, quarter-size hail, and locally heavy rainfall. The strong winds may result in blowing dust, and lightning could ignite grass fires.
