Congratulations on surviving Thanksgiving, and let the countdown to Christmas begin! It’s feeling mighty like Christmas across Texas this morning. The northern third to half of the state has temperatures below freezing, and it’s not much warmer for the southern half.
A strong cold front pushed south across Texas on Wednesday. High temperatures over the next few days will generally be in the 50s and 60s, with overnight lows in the 30s and 40s. High temperatures will return to the 70s early next week across South Texas. A reinforcement of cooler air will keep the northern half of Texas seasonably cool, with a freeze expected again by Sunday and Monday mornings.

A wetter weather pattern looks to be in store for the eastern half of Texas beginning Tuesday and continuing through at least Thursday. Light rain will be possible by Sunday and Monday across the Rio Grande Valley, Lower Texas Gulf Coast, up into the Coastal Bend. Severe storms and widespread heavy rains don’t look to be on our bingo card as we head toward the first days of December.
