Stormy weather will continue along the Texas Gulf Coast for the next few days. Isolated to widely scattered storms are also expected this afternoon into Friday morning from the Permian Basin and Concho Valley east through the Big Country, North Texas, Central Texas, Hill Country, Northeast Texas, and East Texas. Brief heavy rainfall can be expected from the isolated activity.
Heavier rains, possibly with localized flooding, may occur along the Texas Gulf Coast through Saturday. The highest chance of heavier rains will be in Southeast Texas south of Interstate 10 and the Golden Triangle. Houston and Beaumont are two metropolitan areas that may have to deal with the risk of localized flooding.

Otherwise, we’ll see a cool front push south into the Texas Panhandle, West Texas, and Northwest Texas tonight. Spotty showers and storms may occur with the front. Severe weather (tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds) are not expected. That cool front won’t cool temperatures off much in Texas, but it will bring a much drier airmass in from the north. By Sunday morning, we’re anticipating low temperatures into the 50s and low 60s across the northwestern half of Texas. Daytime temperatures across Texas through early next week will top in the upper 70s, 80s, and 90s.
A tropical disturbance will move into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico late this weekend and next week. Some development of that system may occur, and we’ll need to monitor it. Nothing is ongoing for now, and the long-range forecast for tropical mischief remains uncertain.
