After a weekend of record-high temperatures and summer-like weather, a cold front is moving south through the state today. Afternoon temperatures will be twenty to thirty degrees cooler across the northern parts of Texas than yesterday. We’ll see high temperatures in the 70s and 80s tomorrow. A few sprinkles may occur, but we don’t expect significant precipitation with today’s front. Temperatures will warm up again starting Wednesday, with highs soaring back into the 90s across the western two-thirds of Texas.
Severe thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon and evening across Northwest Texas, Texoma, the Big Country, and Concho Valley. Large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning are possible. Storm chances will continue this weekend.
By Friday, the likelihood of thunderstorms will increase, especially in Northwest Texas, Texoma, Big Country, and Concho Valley. Several chances for thunderstorms are expected across the northern half of Texas on Saturday and Sunday. While some of these storms may be intense, they will also bring much-needed rain. Active weather is expected to continue into the final week of April, although we may not experience severe weather every day.
