Severe storms are developing near and ahead of a cool front extending from the Hill Country and Central Texas, across the Brazos Valley, into southeastern North Texas and East Texas. These storms are generally moving east at 20-25 MPH, with some heading southeast and others northeast. The most intense storms may produce hail ranging from golf ball to tennis ball size, along with localized wind gusts over 60 MPH. Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is occurring, and people should be cautious of grass fires. The coverage of storms is expected to increase in the coming hours in the aforementioned areas, though we emphasize that many will not receive any rain. However, we do anticipate that the storms will be quite active, with a significant hail threat.
