A brief severe thunderstorm earlier this afternoon dropped goofball-sized hail in Fort Worth and northwest Arlington before quickly weakening.
At this point, the threat of severe storms seems to have ended for most of the D/FW Metroplex. We continue to monitor the possibility of scattered severe storm development this evening into early Monday morning across eastern North Texas, Northeast Texas, East Texas, and parts of the Brazos Valley.

There are indications that we may see increased storm development after 7-8PM. If storms do materialize, the strongest may produce very large hail and localized damaging wind gusts. A tornado cannot be ruled out.
I’m curious if this morning’s storms in Central Texas caused subsidence (or sinking air) that is keeping a ‘lid’ on the atmosphere so far today. We’ll see if that keeps tonight’s activity ‘behaved’, or if we will indeed see an uptick in storms this evening.
We’ll continue to monitor and post updates as needed on our social media accounts, website, and mobile app.
