Texas is Turning Up the Heat!

Texas’s weather is heating up as we approach the weekend. Today’s weather concern revolves around wildfire danger along and west of Highway 281, with a very high wildfire risk expected in portions of western North Texas, the Hill Country, the Big Country, and Concho Valley. The eastern half of Texas has experienced a significant green-up due to last week’s rain. The wildfire danger will remain elevated across the western third of Texas on Thursday and Friday.

Summer-like temperatures are forecast on Sunday across the western half of Texas with temperatures peaking in the mid-to-upper 90s.

Record high temperatures are possible on Saturday and Sunday in the Texas Panhandle, with temperatures ranging from the middle to upper 90s across the western half of Texas. We are likely to see an increase in wildfire danger due to low humidity, gusty winds, and summer-like temperatures.

Over the next five days, the only rain expected in the United States will be in the Pacific Northwest, the Northern Plains, into the Northeast United States south into the Carolinas. No rain is expected in Texas through Monday.
