September’s Harvest Moon will provide skywatchers a chance to see a supermoon, a partial lunar eclipse and a full moon simultaneously. The Moon will not only appear brighter and more prominent, but Earth will cast a shadow on part of the lunar body. According to NASA, the eclipse will begin around 8:41 p.m. EDT on Sept. 17 and peak around 10:44 p.m. During the event, only around 8 percent of the Moon will fall under the shadow.

The fire was estimated to have burned nearly 6,000 acres as firefighters worked towards full containment. At least one firefighter was injured, and several homes were either damaged or destroyed by the blaze. Investigators believe the fire started in the area around the Davis Creek Regional Park.
