Arkansas hidden treasure: Vast amounts of lithium hiding underground

A study led by researchers at the United States Geological Survey estimated that between 5 to 19 million tons of lithium reserves are residing underneath southwestern Arkansas. The chemical element is essential in the production of glass, aircraft parts, alloys and batteries. The agency estimates that once recovered the lithium would meet world demand for car batteries nine times over.
