During an earnings call on Wednesday, The Walt Disney Company reported domestic theme park revenue of $6.43 billion but experienced an approximately $120 million impact from hurricanes Helene and Milton. Hurricane Milton caused parks throughout Central Florida to close for about a day and disrupted the sailing of the companyâs cruise ships from nearby Port Canaveral, Florida.
Superfog could impact travel to the Super Bowl in New Orleans
The combination of dense fog and smoke is expected to create hazardous travel conditions across southeastern Louisiana throughout Super Bowl weekend. A large marsh fire broke out southwest of New Orleans on Thursday in St. Charles Parish. While now homes are threatened, visibilities along major interstates west of New Orleans could drop to dangerously low levels.

Largest shark ever tagged by research group swimming off the Florida coast
Members of OCEARCH recently tagged a massive 13.8-foot white shark off the Georgia-Florida coast. The white shark weighs 1,652.8 pounds and was last reported to be swimming in the Gulf Stream, east of the Sunshine State. As of late 2024, marine biologists had tagged nearly 400 sharks with most being either great white or tiger sharks.
