Storms Moving Across Eastern Texas Today

This afternoon, showers and thunderstorms are expected to sweep across the eastern third of Texas. Some storms might pack a punch with frequent lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rain, —a brief tornado is a possibility, but several factors are in our favor to lessen the severe thunderstorm threat. As the day goes on, we’ll see the storm activity gradually trailing off from west to east, eventually moving into Louisiana. Once the storms have cleared Texas, we can look forward to a break from significant rain until Tuesday of next week.

Above-average temperatures and mostly clear skies are set to bring us a delightful Friday and a lovely weekend right across Texas. It’s almost like a sneak peek of spring instead of those early February chills! By Sunday and Monday, we can expect high temperatures to warm up into the 70s and 80s. Just a heads up, though—there will be a growing risk of wildfires in the western half of Texas each day starting today.
