Storms Developing in Far East Texas; Snow Tonight in the Panhandle

At 4:30 PM, a line of strengthening thunderstorms extended from Huxley, along the northern edge of the Toledo Bend Reservoir, southwest to San Augustine, through Broaddus and Zavala, reaching west of Woodville, with additional activity toward Baytown. Individual storms are progressing northeast, while the entire line is moving east towards Louisiana. They are expected to leave Texas by 7 PM.

As long as the storms remain in Texas, there’s at least a possibility of more intense storms that could generate localized damaging wind gusts, small hail, and potentially a brief tornado. The severe weather risk is significantly greater tonight in Louisiana, Mississippi, eastern Arkansas, Tennessee, and into Alabama.

Conversely, a small band of moderate to heavy snow is anticipated to traverse parts of the Texas Panhandle tonight. While accumulating snow is a possibility, it will be spatially restricted. Please be aware of sudden reductions in visibility if you find yourself in one of those snow bands.
