Storms and Snow in Texas Today!

Happy Saturday!

Scattered thunderstorms, likely forming a line, will continue moving east/southeast across the Piney Woods of East Texas, the Toledo Bend Reservoir, Southeast Texas, and the Golden Triangle through this afternoon. Some storms may become severe, posing a risk of damaging winds, a few tornadoes, and large hail. Heavy rain and frequent lightning are expected. If tornado warnings are issued, we will provide live severe weather coverage here on our website, mobile app, and social media accounts.

Simulated weather model radar this afternoon through early Sunday morning. Rain and snow will continue across the Panhandle, West Texas, and spread into the Permian Basin, West-Central Texas, and Northwest Texas by tonight. Storms, some severe, will continue moving east across East Texas and Southeast Texas this afternoon before exiting Texas this evening. Much nicer weather begins across all of Texas as precipitation ends late Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, in the Panhandle and West Texas, snow is falling! Moderate snow with strong winds will continue throughout the day, as the rain/snow line moves down to Snyder and Childress this afternoon/evening. Travel might be difficult in those areas due to slick roads and reduced visibility.

Rain chances will spread back into Texoma, Big Country, and persist in the Big Bend through the day, with snow in the higher elevations of the Davis Mountains. Precipitation will cease in Texas late Sunday morning, ushering in a streak of beautiful weather that will continue well into the upcoming week.
