 SEL3 URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 223 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 500 PM CDT Thu May 9 2024 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Central Alabama Northeast Mississippi * Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 500 PM until 1100 PM CDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events to 3 inches in diameter possible Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...Isolated intense thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and drift eastward across the watch area. Large hail and damaging winds may occur with the strongest cells. A tornado or two may also occur. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50 statute miles north and south of a line from 55 miles west southwest of Columbus MS to 15 miles southeast of Auburn AL.
