Another round of scattered severe storms is expected to occur this afternoon across Northeast Texas, East Texas, Southeast Texas, and parts of the Brazos Valley.
One area of thunderstorms will be generated near a cool front located in the Ark-La-Tex, extending southwest into southern North Texas. Another area of thunderstorm potential may develop in Southeast Texas, the Brazos Valley, and East Texas this afternoon.

Both systems will support the possibility of intense storms capable of producing destructive hail up to the size of baseballs, localized damaging wind gusts over 70 MPH, and the potential for a tornado or two. Frequent to continuous cloud-to-ground lightning is also expected. We expect the primary storm window between 3 PM and 11 PM today.
However, a few storms may continue this morning through the early afternoon in Central Texas with pocket-change hail potential. The more intense storms are anticipated later in the afternoon. Most storms will move in an easterly direction, with some moving southeast or northeast.
Don’t blame the messenger for that vague messaging; blame Mother Nature. Thunderstorm activity should begin to decrease late this evening as it moves into Louisiana or simply starts to diminish. However, a few storms will likely continue into the morning hours on Monday.
