Severe Storms Possible This Evening

A cool front moving south across Texas today will trigger isolated to scattered severe storms this evening in Central Texas, the Brazos Valley, Northeast Texas, and East Texas.

We are not expecting a solid line of storms, which means not everyone will receive rain this evening. The best chance for scattered storms will be in East Texas, but at least a few storms are likely in the Brazos Valley and Central Texas as well.

There will be plenty of instability and moisture present, so storms may become intense with the potential for large hail, localized damaging wind gusts, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out in East Texas and near the Texas/Louisiana border.

Storms will slowly move southeast this evening for a few hours before weakening and eventually dissipating around midnight. The more persistent storms may continue into early Monday morning, particularly in the Brazos Valley and Southeast Texas.
