Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected again today across the Texas Gulf Coast, Rio Grande Valley, Coastal Bend, Coastal Plains, and Southeast Texas. Heavy rainfall may result in localized flash flooding – with high water on roads and rapid rises on streams, creeks, and rivers. Rain chances will be highest during the afternoon, but precipitation will continue tonight into Thursday morning. More rain is expected in the same areas on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. More isolated rainfall will be possible in Central Texas, Hill Country, Brazos Valley, and Northeast and East Texas. Severe thunderstorms are not likely, but gusty winds and brief tropical funnel clouds can’t be ruled out.
High temperatures will be a bit wonky over the next several days. The northwestern half of Texas will be the hottest, with sunshine and low rain chances. We’ll see high temperatures up into the 90s to nearly 100 degrees through the weekend. The southeastern third to half of Texas will be cooler, with rain and clouds. High temperatures may struggle to get out of the 70s for some locations, with 80s more likely. We all will return to typical summer weather next week as rain chances diminish, and the heat dome returns to the Plains. Get ready for the 90s and 100s once again. No tropical mischief is expected to impact Texas over the next ten days.
