Late October has arrived, but Mother Nature didn’t get the memo. The weather in Texas will continue to emulate late summer, with afternoon temperatures approaching record highs. Yup, upper 80s and 90s are likely across the state over the next several days. Outside of a few showers in the Big Bend this afternoon, appreciable rainfall is unlikely over the next five days.
A cold front will move south into Texas on Friday and make it through the northwestern half of the state before stalling early Saturday. High temperatures northwest of the front on Friday and Saturday will be cooler, in the 70s, to around 80 degrees. The southeastern half of Texas will continue with near-record high temperatures, with those spreading back to encompass the entire state on Sunday and Monday.

Weather Changes around Halloween?
Our weather is unlikely to change substantially until around Halloween, with a significant pattern shift, but the timing is still up in the air. It could occur around October 31 or hold off until the first few days of November. That shift will likely bring a stronger cold front and, hopefully, the chance of more substantial precipitation.
