Snow is expected to become more common across the Texas Panhandle and West Texas from this afternoon through mid-evening. We anticipate the development of heavier bands of snow, which will lead to accumulations on roadways. Travel conditions are likely to deteriorate this afternoon across the Panhandle, with a further decline in conditions this evening in West Texas. This includes Interstate 27, Highway 287, Interstate 40, and other routes in these regions. Some areas of the Panhandle may see localized snow accumulations exceeding six inches.

Following an eventful morning with some severe storms in North Texas and the Big Country, we expect a cold rain to persist across Northwest Texas, Texoma, the Big Country, and North Texas. A few storms may produce hail in northeast Texas, East Texas, and Southeast Texas this afternoon and early evening. A brief tornado and localized damaging winds are possible. While we do not expect widespread severe storms, most activity is expected to remain manageable. The risk of severe storms will diminish by late evening, but rain and snow chances across the northern third of Texas will continue through early Sunday morning. Precipitation chances will cease by late Sunday morning, giving way to sunny skies statewide by tomorrow afternoon.
