Hurricane Milton has already begun producing heavy rain on the Florida Peninsula, and the threat of tornadoes will increase later this morning. Maximum sustained winds will decrease as the storm undergoes an eyewall replacement cycle and feels the influence of increasing wind shear today.
However, the damage is done, and a catastrophic storm surge will impact the west coast of Florida near and south of the landfall location tonight. Hurricane-force winds will spread across much of the Florida Peninsula tonight and Thursday morning. Flooding rains will result in severe, life-threatening freshwater flooding. We’ll have live video from our chasers near Tampa Bay on the @TexasStormChasers YouTube channel later today and tonight.

Texas Weather Forecast
No weather impacts from Milton are expected in Texas. We’ll have dangerous rip currents and minor coastal flooding during high tides along the Texas Gulf Coast. Otherwise, it’s mostly more of the same weather as we’ve seen over the last ten days. Confidence is increasing that we will see a stronger cold front push into Texas beginning Sunday and Monday.
Strong north winds will let you know the front has arrived. High temperatures on Monday and Tuesday across the northern half of Texas, if not nearly the entire state by Tuesday, will be twenty to twenty-five degrees lower than the next few days. Yup, high temperatures in the 70s are on the way! Overnight temperatures in the 30s, 40s, and 50s are also on the way next week. Sadly, the chances of rain are not impressive.
