Hottest days of 2024 (so far!) across Texas

Texas remains entrenched in the typical weather doldrums we expect in August—mainly dry and hot weather and always a watchful eye on the tropics. We aren’t expecting tropical mischief in our part of the Gulf of Mexico over the next several days. We may have a system in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico over the weekend, but our upper-level heat dome would likely push it west into Mexico.

High temperatures will remain in the upper 90s to the 100s across Texas over the next seven days. The only exception will be the Texas Panhandle, where we may see a period of 80s and lower 90s later this week with the chance of thunderstorms. Those storm chances look to remain confined to the Panhandle and Oklahoma. A rouge afternoon shower can’t be ruled out along the Texas Gulf Coast during the afternoon hours this week.
