Second summer has arrived just in time for the weekend. High temperatures across Texas through the weekend will top out in the 90s and lower 100s. At least we got to enjoy a few days of false fall.
Isolated showers will be possible Saturday evening in the Big Bend and Edwards Plateau. Rain chances will spread into the Rio Grande Plains, Rio Grande Valley, South Texas, and Coastal Bend on Sunday. Overall, rain totals are expected to be light. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible Saturday and Sunday afternoon in North Texas, Texoma, Northwest Texas, and the Texas Panhandle. Those storms will be far more miss than hit.

As we head into next week, the chances of afternoon thunderstorms will increase in the Texas Panhandle and West Texas. Some storms may be on the stronger side, with localized damaging winds and hail. Hopefully, we’ll be able to crank out some beneficial rain.
Above-average temperatures will continue next week across Texas, though high temperatures may come down a few degrees compared to this weekend. It remains to be seen if we’ll be able to spread rain chances farther east into Texas for the second half of the upcoming week.
