Last night, a strong geomagnetic storm brought an amazing #aurora show to much of the United States (and beyond), including here in the Lone Star State. The best times to view the northern lights were about 9 to 10 PM and again around 1 AM. There is a chance we’ll have another opportunity for Aurora tonight into early Saturday morning, but it is not a guarantee. Most of Texas will have clear skies tonight, though there will be high-level clouds in the Panhandle, West Texas, and Northwest Texas. Good luck!
This weekend, the weather across Texas will remain summer-like, with August-like high temperatures. Parts of Northwest Texas will hit the century mark, and the rest of us won’t be much better off with the 90s. The OU/Texas game will experience the hottest temperatures in the series history, with the prior record of 91 degrees being eclipsed by tomorrow’s forecasted high of 96. Relief may be on the horizon.

Crashy the Cold Front Arrives Early Next Week
A cold front is expected to slowly move south into the Texas Panhandle on Sunday and continue to move south further into Texas on Monday and Tuesday. High temperatures north of the front will fall back into the 70s and 80s compared to the 90s south of the front. A very dry airmass will also allow for cool overnight temperatures. Sadly, rain chances look abyssal. Wildfire danger is quickly rising across Texas and will be high or very high this weekend as the flash drought worsens.
