Get Ready, Texas: Big Storms On The Way!

Severe thunderstorms will return to Texas over the next several days. Today looks particularly active, with multiple rounds of storms expected later this morning and late tonight. The most intense storms may produce very large to giant hail up to the size of softballs, localized hurricane-force wind gusts over 75 to 85 MPH, flooding rainfall, and a low tornado threat.

Not everyone in the risk zones will deal with storms, and not all storms will produce severe weather. On Thursday and Saturday, another round of storms may impact parts of Texoma, North Texas, and Northeast #texas. Friday will (hopefully) be a down day, but we can’t rule out isolated severe storms.

Summer Heat for Memorial Day Weekend

Outside of the severe thunderstorm chances across northern parts of Texas, very hot conditions are expected statewide this weekend and on Memorial Day. High temperatures will soar into the 90s, 100s, and even 110s. Heat index values across the eastern half of Texas will be in the 105-115 degree range. Overnight temperatures will remain quite warm as well. Forget May; we’ll be dealing with July or August temperatures. There is some hope for a cool front next week after Memorial Day.
