Please exercise caution, as there is a very high to critical risk of wildfires across the western half of Texas today. For those who relish warm weather, today is the perfect opportunity to enjoy it, as a return to more seasonal temperatures is forecast for tomorrow with the arrival of a cold front. Although New Year’s Eve will not be extremely cold, residents in the northern half of Texas may want to add some extra layers for warmth.

Next Storm Arrives This Weekend

Dry weather is predicted for the next several days across Texas, though lingering morning fog could persist this week in the southeastern third of the state. Light showers are possible beginning Wednesday near the Texas Gulf Coast. The next significant weather system is expected to move in on Sunday, bringing the potential for thunderstorms to the eastern half of Texas. We continue to monitor an increasing chance of colder weather as we approach the second week of January.
