This morning, a winter storm is making its presence felt across the southeastern part of Texas. We’re seeing sleet, snow, and a bit of freezing rain in South Texas, the southern Edwards Plateau, South-Central Texas, the eastern Hill Country, Central Texas, Brazos Valley, Southeast Texas, Coastal Plains, and the Golden Triangle. All these areas are experiencing temperatures below freezing, and it looks like they’ll keep that chill for the rest of our winter storm. We anticipate that the precipitation will continue until sunrise, then gradually taper off from west to east by lunchtime.
Additional sleet and snow are on the way, with one to three inches of accumulation possible in the Brazos Valley, Coastal Plains, Southeast Texas (including Houston), and the Golden Triangle. Please be cautious, as road conditions are likely to worsen, and we recommend avoiding travel during the morning hours. For the latest local road conditions, check out DriveTexas.org. Stay safe and warm!
