At dinner time this Saturday, a line of thunderstorms is moving across the Toledo Bend Reservoir south into the Golden Triangle. These storms have been intensifying as they approach the Louisiana border. They’ll move east out of Texas by 7:30 PM. A low risk of severe storms will continue until those storms exit Texas to the east. Surprisingly, we’ve seen a couple of storms develop on the leading edge of an arctic cold front east of Dallas. Those storms are capable of producing small hail, and we’ll keep an eye on them. No weather models indicated those storms firing up this evening, so it’s a bit of a surprise we’ll be monitoring.
Otherwise, we have an area of snow moving into the northwestern Texas Panhandle from New Mexico. A narrow corridor of accumulating snow is possible tonight into Sunday morning across the northern half of the Texas Panhandle. Most folks won’t see more than a quick round of snow, but a few locations might actually receive a few inches of snow tonight. Much colder temperatures will continue filtering south with the cold front.
