Severe thunderstorms are expected to devleop after midnight tonight along the leading edge of a cold front in Northwest Texas, Big Country, and Concho Valley. The most intense storms may produce spin-up tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail. Storms will quickly evolve into a nearly solid-line extending north into Oklahoma. The squall line will quickly move east into Texoma and North Texas after 3 AM Tuesday.
We anticipate damaging winds, spin-up tornadoes, and some hail with the most intense storms as storms move across Interstate 35 from Central and Southern Oklahoma into North Texas – including the D/FW Metroplex between 4 AM and 6 AM. The cold front, and a nearly solid line of storms, will continue moving east after sunrise Tuesday across Northeast Texas, East Texas, and Southeast Texas. Some storms may continue producing damaging winds and spin-up tornadoes. The threat of severe storms will end around lunch-time as activity moves east into Arkansas and Louisiana.

It will be a windy night across Texas, with some wind gusts over 50 MPH. Once the cold front (in name only, really) moves east of your location, winds will become westerly and remain strong.
Very Windy with Blowing Dust and Wildfires
Tuesday will feature very strong westerly winds across all of Texas, with damaging winds in spots. Wind gusts may exceed 70 MPH in the Texas Panhandle, West Texas, Permian Basin, and Guadalupe Mountains. Blowing dust, and perhaps a dust storm, will reduce visibiltiies across much of Texas at times tomorrow.
Extreme wildfire danger across the western third of Texas today will encompass much of Texas on Tuesday. Dangerous, fast-moving wildfires are possible.
Very dry air, in combination with the strong winds, will create an extreme threat of wind-driven wildfires. Any wildfires that ignite may move rapidly and become uncontrollable until weather conditions improve Tuesday night. Dangerous, large wildfires may burn several miles per hour tomorrow. Winds will calm down after sunset Tuesday across the southern half of Texas, but remain strong across the northern half of the state through Wednesday morning.
