URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 618 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1230 PM MDT Sun Aug 11 2024 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Southwest South Dakota Northeast Wyoming * Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 1230 PM until 700 PM MDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will increase in coverage and intensity through the afternoon across the watch area. A few severe storms are expected, capable of large hail and damaging wind gusts. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40 statute miles north and south of a line from 50 miles west of Rapid City SD to 65 miles southeast of Philip SD. A few tornadoes possible Isolated damaging wind gusts to 60 mph possible SUMMARY...Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are forecast to develop this morning into the early afternoon as a warm front advances northward across the Watch area.
