URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 376 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 345 PM CDT Sun Jun 2 2024 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Eastern Colorado Western Kansas Southwest Nebraska * Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 345 PM until 1100 PM CDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75 mph likely Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter likely A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...Widely scattered to scattered thunderstorms will probably develop across the Watch area this afternoon into the evening. The stronger storms, including supercells, will likely be capable of a large to very large hail threat and severe gusts. A tornado is possible with a mature supercell during the early evening. The severe risk will probably transition to primarily a wind and hail risk during the mid to late evening. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 95 statute miles east and west of a line from 5 miles north of Imperial NE to 30 miles east of Elkhart KS. Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 80 mph likely Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter likely A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...Scattered thunderstorms are forecast to continue to develop and intensify over the Nebraska Panhandle and northeast Colorado and move east into central Nebraska this evening. A few supercells and severe thunderstorm clusters are expected with large to very large hail, severe gusts (60-80 mph), and perhaps a tornado. A forward-propagating linear cluster of storms will probably evolve this evening with the main threat becoming severe gusts. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 80 statute miles north and south of a line from 35 miles south southwest of Scottsbluff NE to 30 miles northeast of Burwell NE. A few tornadoes possible Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75 mph likely Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3 inches in diameter likely SUMMARY...Scattered severe thunderstorms are forecast to rapidly develop this afternoon. Supercells capable of large to very large hail (2 to 3 inches in diameter) and a tornado risk will be the primary hazards through the early evening. The tornado threat will likely focus in the vicinity of a modifying outflow boundary draped across parts of the Watch area. Additional storm development into a thunderstorm cluster is possible this evening. Severe gusts and hail will likely become the primary severe threats by late evening.
