A destabilizing airmass near and immediately ahead of this strong to severe thunderstorm activity will aid in a severe risk continuing eastward through the early afternoon. A Tornado Watch has been issued for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex as a significant severe weather threat unfolds. Tens of millions of people are on alert from the Plains to the Southeast for thunderstorms that could produce large hail, damaging wind gusts and tornadoes.
Very gusty winds, low humidity, and drought conditions will place much of Texas in an extreme fire threat.
