Update on Texas Wildfires; Critical Fire Risk Returns Tomorrow

Improved weather conditions allowed firefighters to make significant progress on multiple ongoing wildfires across the Hill Country, South Texas, Coastal Bend, and Rio Grande Plains. Most fires have had their forward progress halted, meaning firefighters have stopped the fire’s rate of spread. Containment numbers have increased after firefighters confirm that the entire fire perimeter is ‘cold’ with no hotspots, although residual heat may continue to burn within the interior portions of some fires.

The Welder Complex, located near Stinton in San Patricio County, encompasses two fires and appears to be the most destructive incident from yesterday’s wildfire outbreak. An undetermined number of structures have been damaged or destroyed, and crews are working to assess the damage.
