Tomorrow’s Forecast: Rain, Ice, Storms And Snow!

Exciting weather is making its way back to Texas this week! We can expect a chance of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and even a touch of freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Though it might not be December, it seems like Baldy-in-Chief has had one too many cups of coffee!

Today, we’ll have widespread clouds across Texas, and light showers will gradually increase throughout the day. Tonight, heavier showers and a couple of storms will develop in the eastern two-thirds of Texas. Keep in mind that freezing drizzle could create some slick roads in the Texas Panhandle heading into Tuesday morning.

A wet Tuesday awaits North Texas and Texoma, with rain and storms spreading south and east into Central Texas, Northeast Texas, East Texas, and Southeast Texas as the afternoon and evening roll in. Just a little spot of light frozen precipitation might linger throughout the day in the Texas Panhandle. While severe storms aren’t anticipated tomorrow, a few of them could produce small hail.

Looking ahead, we can anticipate another wave of heavier rain and storms moving across the eastern half of Texas from morning into early afternoon on Wednesday, before heading out to the east.

We should watch out for freezing rain, sleet, and snow, which may lead to some tricky travel conditions in the Texas Panhandle and northwestern Oklahoma late Tuesday through Wednesday afternoon. A light dusting to an inch of snow could blanket areas north of Interstate 40 in the Panhandle, with ice accumulations of over one-tenth of an inch possible in the eastern Panhandle and into western and central Oklahoma on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, warmer spring-like temperatures will stick around for the southern two-thirds of Texas through Wednesday, while the northern third will feel a bit colder. In fact, temperatures in the Panhandle might not even rise above freezing on Tuesday and Wednesday! A cool breeze will sweep down across all of Texas on Thursday, but not too frigid.

Thankfully, we can look forward to a warm-up beginning on Friday, which might bring a chance for a few storms to East and Southeast Texas on Saturday. Keep an eye on the forecast—it’s going to be an interesting week!
