FORECAST

While the big story is a blast of cold air arriving this weekend, we do have rain on the radar this morning. It’s light, but don’t be surprised if you see a few sprinkles on your morning commute. San Antonio’s window for rain is small, likely ending around sunrise. Those east of I-35 may see shower activity through mid-morning, before it all pushes east by the afternoon. Clouds will break up some this afternoon. That should be enough to get temps into the upper-50s

NEXT WEEK’S COLD SNAP

This will be a topic of conversation this rest of this week for various reasons. The biggest being that we’ll see some hard freezes next week and some very cold wind chills. Additionally, models have trended in the direction of bringing in some light precipitation by late Monday into the day Tuesday.

The front blows through on Saturday, however, the arctic air will take its time filtering into the area. Sunday will be colder for sure, but the really cold stuff will hold off until next week. Know that Sunday will be windy and mostly sunny, with highs in the 40s.

Monday is forecast to start in the upper-20s. A hard freeze is possible. Wind chills could dip into the teens Monday morning. While we’ll start out with sunshine, clouds are forecast to roll into the area by midday.

WINTRY MIX?

As a low develops along the Texas coast late on Monday, light precipitation is a possibility Monday night into Tuesday. Being that this is still several days out, much can change and likely will, especially when it comes to when and where, or if we’ll see anything at all. What could we see? At the moment, a light wintry mix, with sleet, freezing rain, and even a snowflake or two are all possible through Tuesday afternoon. This is one of those situations where we’ll be updating as often as we can.

For those planning to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. March Monday morning, please prepare for cold conditions. Temperatures are forecast to be in the 20s, while wind chill values may sink into the teens.
