Second Summer Arrives in Texas with Toasty Weather into Next Week

Second summer is arriving in Texas, and temperatures are returning to the unpleasantly toasty category. With the return of high temperatures in the 90s and 100s, we’ll also see increased humidity—especially across the eastern half of Texas. A few showers remain possible in the Ark-La-Tex and East Texas today from the far outer bands of Francine.

After today’s isolated rain showers in eastern portions of Texas, we’ll see our next opportunity for rain in South Texas, the Coastal Bend, Rio Grande Plains, and Rio Grande Valley later Saturday and Sunday. Some locally heavy rain may occur, with isolated rain totals up to one-half inch.

Very Warm Weekend for Texas

Increased upper-level cloud cover will encompass the southern half to two-thirds of Texas over the weekend. That will not abate our return to summer-time weather. Friday and Saturday will be the warmest days over the next five, with just a tiny drop or leveling off of temperatures on Sunday and Monday. Overnight temperatures will also be warmer. False fall has gone bye-bye.

Storms Next Week?

A more active weather pattern may bring the chance of isolated thunderstorms to the Texas Panhandle and West Texas beginning Monday or Tuesday next week. The good ole’ dryline will return to the picture so that some stronger storms may occur. Otherwise, much of Texas will remain dry over the next five days with above-average temperatures.

Have a great Thursday, and thanks for tuning in to today’s #TexasWeatherRoundup! We’ll be back with a new TWR tomorrow morning. Have a great day, and God Bless!
