Texas Weather Forecast: Popup Summer Storms & Heat

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon into Friday across the southeastern third of Texas. Frequent lightning, gusty winds, and localized downpours are the main threats. We’ll see more chances this weekend. Otherwise, it’s warm!

Forecast rain totals for Texas over the next five days. The best chance for up to one inch of localized rainfall will be across the southern twenty-five percent of Texas. Sporadic showers are possible nearly statewide; but the chances are low.

Widespread severe weather is not expected, but storms will produce frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall. Activity may continue into the night and Friday. The (relative) highest chance for isolated storms will shift into the western half of Texas this weekend and early next week.

The upper-level heat dome, centered over the West Coast, will nudge east into the Four Corners this weekend. It doesn’t look like it’ll set up directly over Texas over the next five days. That means it’ll remain seasonably hot, but we may continue seeing daily isolated popup convection.

It’s Hot! Repeat Daily.

High temperatures across Texas will range from the upper 80s in the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains and along the Texas Gulf Coast (though humidity will make it feel closer to 100!). Otherwise, high temperatures will continue to be in the 90s to lower 100s.

No indications of tropical mischief impacting Texas over the next ten days. Thanks for joining us for the Thursday Texas Weather Roundup! We’ll return with your next video weather forecast, which is bright and early Friday. God Bless!
