Texas Severe Weather & Storm Update (June 2, 2024 2:20PM)

Multiple thunderstorms are possible this afternoon into Monday morning across northern portions of Texas. One complex of thunderstorms is moving through Northwest Texas and southern Oklahoma. This first round of storms will move east/southeast into the Big Country, Texoma, and North Texas over the next several hours. Damaging winds, hail, heavy rainfall, and lightning are expected with the most intense storms. The D/FW Metroplex will probably have some impacts by dinner time. Depending on the longevity of the first round of storms, they may also continue toward the Ark-La-Tex.

A second round of thunderstorms is expected to develop later this afternoon into the early evening hours across the Texas Panhandle and West Texas. Initial thunderstorms are likely supercells with a threat of very large hail, localized damaging winds, and perhaps a couple of tornadoes. Storms will move east, eventually growing upscale into our next complex of storms. As is the name of the game over the past ten days, storms will probably move southeast toward Northwest Texas, Texoma, the Big Country, and North Texas late tonight into Monday morning. It is unclear how strong they’ll be given the ongoing storms, but some severe thunderstorms and heavy rain threats may continue.
