725 PM EDT Tue May 20 2025 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Tornado Watch for portions of Northern Georgia Eastern Kentucky Far Southwest North Carolina Eastern Tennessee Far Southwest Virginia * Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 725 PM until 200 AM EDT. * Primary threats include... A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter possible SUMMARY...A mix of supercell thunderstorms and clusters will spread
generally eastward this evening into the early overnight hours. A
few tornadoes may occur with this activity, and a strong tornado and
isolated very large hail will also be possible with any sustained
supercell. Otherwise, an increasing threat for scattered to numerous
damaging winds appears likely as thunderstorms attempt to organize
into a line later this evening. Peak gusts may reach up to 60-70
mph. The tornado watch area is approximately along and 50 statute miles
east and west of a line from 35 miles north northeast of London KY
