Deep ocean mystery: Just 0.001% of deep ocean seafloor has been visually explored

In a new study published in Science Advances, oceans researchers say that just 0.001% of the deep seafloor has been visually observed. The findings highlight the potential for a lack of understanding of ocean biodiversity. The deep ocean is generally considered to be at and below the depth at which light begins to dwindle, at around 200 meters or some 656 feet.
