Verisk, a global data analytics company, estimates insured losses from the Palisades and Eaton wildfires could total between $28 billion and $35 billion. Local authorities said around 12,000 structures were destroyed and between two and three dozen victims were killed. The Palisades Fire is expected to account for the largest share, with insured losses estimated between $20 billion and $25 billion. Investigators have not determined a cause but many are suspected to have been human triggered as there was no reports of lightning in the immediate area.
