Meteorologists are most concerned about conditions from Monday afternoon through Wednesday morning when winds will be at their peak and relative humidity will be low. The combination of low humidity, dry vegetation, and strong winds is expected to create an elevated fire risk, which could pose threats to life and property if wildfires develop.
A species of giant isopod, Bathynomus vaderi, has been named following its harvesting in the waters off Vietnam. According to scientists who wrote about the giant crustacean in the journal ZooKeys, it can grow to at least 12 inches long.
