Atlanta’s tower cranes to be put to hurricane test during Helene

Atlanta’s tower cranes to be put to hurricane test during Helene

As Hurricane Helene heads for a landfall along the Gulf Coast, communities across the Southeast are preparing for damaging wind gusts and flooding. The largest metro region, Atlanta, could see wind gusts of at least 50 mph and several inches of rainfall. Being a large city means tower cranes dot the landscape and will be subject to at least tropical storm conditions. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia, issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the metro area, which is a rare occurrence.
