The FOX Forecast Center expects the first flakes of the season to fall over higher elevations of the West including Yosemite and Yellowstone. In most areas, frozen precipitation will stay above 9,500 feet, meaning only mountain climbers will likely encounter the snowfall.
A mastodon tusk, skull and other bones were recently discovered in Wayne County in southern Iowa, University of Iowa officials said. The skull is the first well-preserved mastodon skull scientifically excavated in Iowa.
