Hurricane Beryl crashed ashore along the central Texas coast early Monday morning, pummeling the area with 90 mph wind gusts that brought life-threatening storm surge, widespread damage, and knocking out power to well over 2 million people while leaving at least several dead.
Evacuation orders were issued north of Santa Barbara over the weekend for the Lake Fire. CAL FIRE reported the fire had burned more than 18,000 acres since it began on July 5.
